Hi everyone, well as you are all aware October started with our OFSTED inspection, which considering the fact that I was dead on my feet from lack of sleep caring for my little dog who was ill and passed away in the early hours of the inspection day, it went well and I managed to hold it together until she walked out the door. I can not by law disclose the actual grading we received until the official report is published, but as soon as it is I will make sure that you all have a copy, as I can say that she said it was “a lovely nursery where the children are obviously happy and confident learners” and during her interactions with the children she was very impressed with how clever the children are (I could not have been more proud )
Nappy Change
Could I please ask parents whose child is in nappies to actually use a side fastening nappy as it is easier and less time consuming than having to undress your child to put a pull up nappy back on.
Halloween
Halloween falls on a Monday this Month and already the children are talking about costumes they are wearing, so from the 24th of October the children can come into nursery dressed up in their best Halloween outfit. We will be doing a range of activities that reflect the Halloween traditions and the children are already singing a song that is called “Ha! Ha! its Halloween night” which can be viewed if you want to on Kids TV on YouTube. We will also do rhymes to well know tunes that introduce rote number and finger counting
Five Little pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, "Oh, my it's getting late"
The second one said, "There are witches in the air."
The third one said, "But we don't care."
The fourth one said, "Let's run, let's run!"
The fifth one said, "Isn't Halloween fun?"
Then Woooooo went the wind
And OUT went the lights.
And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.
Halloween
Visitors (Explains trick or treat to the children)
(sung to “Row Your
Boat”)
Dancers, pirates, queens, and clowns
Are knocking at the door.
It’s only trick-or-treaters who
Want candy from the store.

The EYFS favours a holistic approach which they consider to be the key to learning in the early years and it focuses on the child as an unique individual.
The areas are promoted within the environment through a range of planned activities and unplanned learning opportunities that may arise during the for example when we found a hedgehog in the garden.
During the academic year we cover Seasons and this is our Autumn season and experiences for the children will encompass learning that supports this topic.
All this week we have planned a range of mini beast activities such as: matching the insects the children found to the poster pictures, fine motor and hand and eye co-ordination rescuing spiders from the spaghetti swamp, looking in the garden and finding eight snails which the children observed with the magnifying glasses they had.
Next week 17th October we will be collecting leaves for leaf prints, looking at natures and plants life cycles and talking about the weather.
The week after the 24th October we will be doing Halloween crafts and some messy play
Finally
I would like to thank the girls for all their hard work and care for not only the children, but myself and also a thank you to all of you for your continued support
